Reign Total Body Fuel
A relatively new product on the market, having only been released in early 2019, Reign has quickly jumped ahead of the pack and established itself as one of the top products available. Having taken a firm grip on the U.S market, they have begun expanding internationally and are becoming widely popular in counties such as the U.K. as well.
If you needed any further convincing, they have already signed deals with notable brand ambassadors such as former worlds strongest man and Game Of Thrones star, Hafthor Bjornsson.
High Caffeine Content
When you’re buying an energy drink, the number one question you will be asking is “how effective is it?” Well, in this instance, you just have to look at it’s caffeine content, as that is the source of its power, like it is in the majority of energy drinks.
How it differs from its rivals is in the quantity it contains. While the average energy drink contains roughly 170mg caffeine per 500ml (16 fl oz) can, Reign Total Body Fuel Contains a whopping 300mg, almost double the average.
Wide Variety Of Great Tasting Flavours
If energy isn’t the main selling point for you, chances are it’s going to be taste that makes or breaks it. Unlike when energy drinks first came out, we are no longer limited to the single, chemical tasting flavour we once were.
Reign comes in a choice of 10 flavours including Carnival Candy, Melon Mania and Razzle Berry. Each flavour is incredibly distinctive and tastes so good you’ll find yourself reaching for a can, whether you need the energy or not.
With obesity and diabetes on the rise in modern society, people are looking to avoid sugar more and more every day. This can sometimes be difficult when you’re in need of an energy boost, as for years sugar has been the go to source for drinks and confectionery companies to provide a kick in their products.
That’s not an issue you’ll find here though, as Reign contains zero sugar, zero calories and only one gram of carbs. Perfect for when you need to increase your energy levels and not your waist size.
In a market such as this, it makes sense that energy drinks are incredibly popular among athletes. People looking for any extra boost they can get, to push themselves beyond their limits. The fact that some top energy drinks are now adding a little extra into their products, should therefore come as no surprise.
In addition to its high caffeine content, Reign also includes BCAA’s to fuel muscles, coenzyme Q10 to reduce fatigue and electrolytes to keep you hydrated.
More of a note of caution than an actual weakness, one of this products shining lights is also its cause for concern. The more prominent energy drinks become, the more bad press they receive due to their high caffeine content. As one of the strongest available, it only makes sense that there would be more cause for concern here than on weaker options.
The FDA suggests that 400mg is the maximum safe amount to consume in a day. While a can of Reign does come in under that with 300mg per can, it is getting close. You certainly wouldn’t want to be drinking more than one per day, like you can get away with on other brands.
Now while the overarching purpose of an energy drink is to provide the user with a boost, people still have different needs. Whether it be when they use it, the ingredients included, or simply how convenient it is, just because I believe Reign to be the best, doesn’t necessarily mean it will be your favourite.
I’m therefore going to show you a few alternative options, that should have you covered for any eventuality.
Most Convenient- Monster Energy Ultra
Nothing is worse than finding the perfect product and then struggling to get hold of it. One of the most famous options available, you are almost guaranteed to have seen this one in stores.
It ticks all the boxes of being great tasting, as well as having high caffeine and low sugar, to make it a desirable option. The fact that it is available pretty much everywhere gives it a real leg up in the race to the top. If you want an energy drink without ever having any fuss to get hold of it, this might be the drink for you.
Best Naturally Flavoured – XYience Energy
One thing that can put people off of energy drinks is their incredibly artificial flavours. Even with the best tasting ones, there’s no doubt they are obviously man made. This can be particularly problematic for people that avoid artificial sweeteners, such as aspartame, due to health concerns.
Well there’s now a solution for people in that situation, XYience Energy. It contains the same energy boost as the regular brands and comes in 10 great tasting, all natural flavours, including, Cherry Lime, Mango Guava and Tangerine. If you’re looking for a natural energy boost, I’d highly recommend giving XYience a try.
Best Pre-Workout – C4 Original
Due to the very nature of the product, energy drinks are popular among fitness fanatics to get them ready to tackle a heavy workout. While many will use dedicated pre-workouts, some will stick with energy drinks due to the convenience of being able to grab them on the go. What if you could combine the two though? Well that’s exactly what you’ve got here.
Cellucor are a Texan company who’ve specialised in workout supplements for almost 20 years. They’ve now combined their patented C4 pre-workout formula with a powerful energy drink to provide the ultimate boost. Loaded with 200mg of caffeine,as well as Beta-alanine and Citrulline Malate, it’s guaranteed to fire you through any workout. The fact it also comes in 10 awesome flavours is just the icing on the cake.
Best Post Workout – Muscle Monster
One area that people often overlook when it comes to energy drinks is using them after a workout. They think about getting the energy to train, but what about afterwards, when you’re totally spent and still have to go on with your day? Well, one option that truly has you covered is Muscle Monster.
Made by one of the top manufacturers around in Monster, this features almost the same energy kick as their regular drinks, but with the added bonus of 27 grams of protein and 10 grams of carbs per can. Perfect in every aspect for refuelling you after a gruelling workout.
The level that Reign have achieved in such a short time is nothing short of incredible. They tick all the boxes and have expanded at a rate that is almost unbelievable. As time goes on I only see them becoming bigger and better, as they look set to live up to their name and Reign over the competition for a long time to come.
That said, if you have a specific need from your energy drink of choice that Reign doesn’t meet, the rest of this selection should have you covered. Whether you’re looking to aid your training, or just need a quick boost on the go, there’s something for everyone here.
